Directions:

From Falmouth high street walk up the hill towards the Greenbank hotel. Continue along North Parade past the hotel until you see a turning on the right with a sign for the Fish Factory and a big sign for Fairhaven Shipping. Walk down the little road onto the wharf and the Fish Factory is on the first floor of the large grey warehouse right in front of you. The entrance is around the left hand side of the building and up the exterior steps.

From Truro take a left at the Macdonalds/Sainsburys roundabout - continue past the Marina, the turning for Old Hill and the furniture shop. As the road starts bending around to the right you will find the turning on your left with signs as described above.

Confused? Check out the google map. We are at Falmouth Wharves, North Parade, Falmouth TR11 2TF.

If you're driving you'll need to come and grab a parking ticket or park on North Parade as the wharf is a clamping zone.

'Tis getting frosty down on the wharf and so as not to freeze our arty little toes the gallery opening times up until christmas will be as follows:

The Fish Factory Gallery will then be closed to the public from 17th December until Saturday 3rd March when we will be holding a grand re-opening party! The space will still be available to hire for events and workshops etc during this period - it will also still be in use by our resident artists but these two months of hibernation will lead to exciting projects next year - so watch this space!!

7.30pm - Midnight at The Fish Factory Art Space, North Parade, Falmouth TR11 2TF

What happens when you bring a DJ, a bar and 60 people with creative ideas and a taste for the extraordinary into a massive working Gallery warehouse and tell them they can draw on the walls?! Everyone will be involved in one way or another in creating works to go on sale at auction during the Christmas Art fair to raise money for charity. Luckily cosmic will be there to insure this happens, he does this sort of thing often, check out his blog @ drawingonthings.com

With Live Art Happening through the night from 7.30pm till Midnight. Watch a spectacle unfold and get involved with creating some brand new original artworks. The art will be accompanied by live music and there will be a bar for drinks. Tickets are £5 each and available from the Fish Factory Art Space and online in advance only. There are only 60 tickets available so snap 'em up quick!

All are welcome to come and enjoy a first glimpse of the new exhibition, meet the artists and enjoy the space and company of like-minded people. See the wall for information about the eclectic range of artists who will be participating in this show, which promises to put the Fish Factory on the map as Falmouth's most cutting edge and dynamic gallery and art space.
The gallery is open 9am - 6pm daily and this exhibition will be on display until October, so plenty of time to come and visit us if you can't make it to the private view.

Exhibition Opening at the Riverbank in Truro next week

This Wednesday the 20th July the Riverbank Bar in Truro will be opening it's latest exhibition of contemporary art with an evening of art and music. All are welcome to come to view and buy art from 7pm and stay for the live music set from 9pm. The excellent restaurant will be open until 9pm so why not come for a meal, or just enjoy the great atmosphere and interesting company.

If you can't make it to the opening night this exhibition will be on display in the Riverbank for 2 months so plenty of time to come and visit us!

Hello!
This is a chance to show off and experience art in a fun and unique way. We are looking for contemporary artists to submit work for an exhibition at the Riverbank hotel in Truro, which will be running for 2 months. There will also be live music on the opening night for 9pm!

SO...send us a new or old illustration, paintings, a series of photographs, a textile print, a photo of a sculpture or 3D model. It can be project work, a single piece or a series or something you have done in your spare time.
We are looking for new interesting work that's bold, bright and inviting.
If you wish to submit please send images of your work and a short description to artsubmissions@live.co.uk by the 13th July.
If your work is chosen to be exhibited there is the opportunity for you to sell if you wish.
You must be avaliable to deliver you work to the Riverbank by 11am on the 20th July.

We have a new guest exhibition pitching up at the Fish Factory this weekend. The show is called 'Art Zoo' and features a wide range of local fine art - from films, to paintings, installation and performance.

All are welcome at the opening party on Saturday 18th June from 7pm. Also come along to an evening of poetry and art on Monday 20th.

Since January, a wonderful team of voluteers have been working hard to convert an abandoned scallop packing plant into an exciting new artspace for Falmouth.

It's been a big job, but we've scrubbed the floors, painted the walls, cleaned out the rust and finally got rid of the fishy smell. Now The Fish Factory is ready to welcome artists into our studios and the public to the gallery to see regular exhibitions of Cornish contempor...ary art.

Please join us for our launch night from 6pm to 10pm on Saturday 28 May. We've an exciting first exhibition featuring work by Diggy Smerdon, Sophie Capron and Martiens Bekker.

Come along to see our fantastic space, some exceptional artwork and for a complimentary drink.

You can find us at Falmouth Wharves, North Parade, Falmouth, TR11 2TF, midway between the Greenbank Hotel and Premier Marinas Falmouth. There is parking available nearby on North Parade.

Falmouth's fishy new studio and gallery space opening May 28th

Studio space
Private rooms and open plan studio space for artists to rent by the month. Studios will be open between 9am and 6pm 7 days a week, access at other hours will be negotiable.
Studio 1 (11.8x12.5ft Corner room, 4 Windows) £110.00 per month
Studio 2 (11.8x12.5ft Middle room, 2 Windows) £100.00 per month
Studio 3 (11.5x12.5ft Back room, 2 Windows) £100.00 per month
Open Plan Studio Space (For a standard 6x6ft space with desk/worktop) £40.00 per month
Other spaces available – please ask.
The Fish Factory will also charge a commission of 15% on any sales made directly from the studios to cover promotional costs. To secure your studio you will need to pay the first month's rent upfront, rent will then be payable on the 1st of each month.

Contemporary art exhibitions
Our main gallery space will host a regular programme of innovative, contemporary art by a range of artists.

Gallery space for hire
There will also be gallery space available to hire for artists to exhibit their work.

Standard Exhibition Space (approx. 15x30ft) £150 per week
Large Exhibition Space (approx. 30x30ft) £350.00 per week
Prices include use of the space as well as the Fish Factory's standard display boards, however artists will be expected to organise and hang their own show. Exhibitions can be promoted through the Fish Factory's website, mailing list and social media sites.

Rehearsal space
Our smaller spaces can also be hired by the hour for use by musicians, theatre companies and dance and exercise classes.
Prices are negotiable – please speak to Rose if you are interested in hiring some space.

Have we whetted your appetite for fishy frolics at The Fish Factory yet? If you want to get involved with our new studio and gallery space, come to the Open Doors weekend on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 May.

We'll be open from 12pm to 4pm on both days for you to take a look around and lend a hand getting the space ready for the first exhibition at the end of May.

The Fish Factory is an artist-led project, and we need: -

ARTISTS CONVERT FISH FACTORY INTO NEW GALLERY

Enterprising local artists are breathing new life into an abandoned industrial building in Falmouth, by converting it into a new gallery with space for artists to create and exhibit their work.

Located in a former scallop packing plant overlooking the Fal River, The Fish Factory at Falmouth Wharves, North Parade, is currently undergoing extensive renovations ready for a May opening.

The Fish Factory will host a main gallery area with regular exhibitions of contemporary art, plus artist studio space available to rent from May. A large enclosed space is being converted into a rehearsal and workshop area available to rent by the hour to artists, musicians, theatre companies and exercise and dance classes.

Artist Rose Hatcher, who is leading the project, said “converting the space into a gallery and studios is no small task, but it's proving really good fun. We've big plans, and with a lot of elbow grease and team work we've already got rid of the fishy aroma! The whole project is artist-led, so please get it touch if you'd like to lend a hand with a paintbrush or a hammer.”

Big Plans!

After only a few weeks of working on the warehouse down at Falmouth Wharves it is already taking shape as The Fish Factory Art Space. Converting it from an abandoned scallop packing factory to a gallery and studios is no small task but with some big plans and a lot of elbow grease we have at least got rid of the fishy aroma (phew!)

Here's the plan:

The usable space is the first floor of the warehouse - accessible from steps by the waterfront. There is a high ceiling, lots of metal and concrete, some office spaces and some interesting looking machines.

- The offices and some of the open plan area are being converted into artist studio space available to rent from May.
- A large enclosed space will be converted into a rehearsal/workshop area available to rent by the hour - to all kinds of people - artists, musicians, actors, excercise and dance - the possibilities are endless!
- A main gallery area where there will be regular exhibitions of contemporary art.
- More gallery space to rent out for your own exhibition.
- Some space to hang around and have a cup of tea and an artsy chat - highly necessary of course!

Currently looking for:

- Lovely volunteers to help out with everything from painting a wall to spreading the word.
- Artists who would like to rent studio space.
- Anyone looking for space to do their 'stuff' (see above).
- Artists who would be interested in exhibiting.
- Interesting people!!
